Staying in Las Galeras
We stayed in Hostal Il Triangolo and it was the 2nd cheapest we found on Booking.com. We stayed here for 6 nights and were pretty satisfied. There are two beaches within walking distance to this hostel, Playa Grande and La Playita.

We were two of the 6 guests at this beautiful hostel. Even though there hadn’t been anyone here for 6 months due to the pandemic, they still maintained this place pretty well.

Eating in Las Galeras
Probably because of Covid-19 and the lack of tourists, a lot of the restaurants were closed. We did find some pretty cheap (200 pesos/3.5 USD per person) and typical Dominican lunch from a small “comedor” (local eatery) within 1 minute walk from Il Triangolo Hostel (turn right after going out of the hostel). There was also another local comedor, Gresie’s Restaurant, on the main street that had food around 250 pesos per person.

Dinner Tacos from Comedor
We skipped a nicer-looking restaurant on the main street and came to this little local comedor (local eatery), also on the main street in Las Galeras. If it weren’t for the two people eating there, I would think this comedor was closed.

We walked over to the counter that was completely empty. The chef poked out her head from the kitchen window and asked what we would like.

We ordered chicken tacos and it came with Doritos chips and guacamole – it was actually good guacamole! Doritos? They are the same Doritos.
